Station
Open Day
September 13, 2008
The Brigade held an open day for the Station. Weather
was cold, wet and windy. This, along with the fact Australian and US Navy
vessels were in Albany harbour helped keep the number of visitors was low. Those
who did show up were welcomed by a
sausage sizzle (all funds to the RFDS) and some friendly folks.
At around ten o'clock a totally unscripted motor vehicle accident and subsequent
fire occurred. Those present saw the firefighters
get kitted up and race out to the incident. Not something that you would
see every day. Fortunately Members of the Brigade,
local SES and two Bush Fire Brigades were on hand to talk to the visitors.
Many thanks to Middle Ward, Narrikup & Narpyn BFBs for allowing
us to use their appliances and to the local State
Emergency Service for supplying a trailer. Thanks also to the SES, Narpyn
BFB and Middle Ward BFB for having
some of their Members on hand to cook, clean, chat and make for a good day despite
the difficulties.
